Knee pain
The knee joint is one of the most complex joints in the human body, and the joint composed of the thigh bone and the kneecap is the most common, and the rate of degeneration is also the highest. Whenever we walk, go up and down stairs, squat, sit up, and exercise, there is smooth cartilage behind the kneecap and in front of the thigh, which reduces friction when the kneecap slides, making it slide more freely. When the cartilage on the lower side of the kneecap is damaged, you will feel pain, stiffness, redness and swelling of the affected area, and knee arthritis will form. Mild cases require a few days of rest to subside, but it is easy to relapse due to resumption of exercise; severe cases may not subside naturally, and even walking is difficult. The feeling of tightness in the knee will become more and more intense and the pain will persist. This can lead to osteomalacia of the knee. When the knee muscles become unable to stretch, the knee becomes unstable and the joint is repeatedly injured.
The course of the disease will also have a vicious cycle:
→ Pain
→ Limited muscle movement
→ Muscle atrophy
→ Knee instability
→ Ligament is stretched causing further damage
→ Causes pain
Causes of osteomalacia of the knee:
♦ This condition may be caused by repetitive movements over a long period of time, or sudden stress on the knee (such as running).
♦ It may also be caused by genetic factors (loose kneecap or abnormal kneecap structure)
♦ Direct or heavy blow to the kneecap
♦ or caused by unknown reasons
Preventing knee pain:
– Control your body weight and avoid overloading your knee joints
– Control the amount of exercise and avoid overexerting yourself
- Avoid squatting and kneeling to reduce the pressure on the kneecap
– Remember to do some stretching and warm-up exercises before exercise
When the knee joint is sore, the weight will naturally be placed on the other foot when walking. Over time, this will cause unbalanced force on the back, eventually leading to spinal displacement and lower back pain. Therefore, people with knee joint degeneration should seek appropriate treatment from a doctor as soon as possible.
