Sciatica is caused by the compression of the fourth and fifth lumbar nerves and the first three sacral nerves. S Patient will suffer from continuous skeletal and muscular pain, numbness or abnormal skin sensation, weakness in the legs, pain during coughing and sneezing, and burning sensation in the legs.
Causes of sciatica:
~Spinal disc herniation, leading to compression of the nerves leading to the lumbar vertebrae (L4, L5, S1)
~ Lumbar Scoliosis, narrowing of nerves in the lumbar vertebrae (L4, L5, S1)
~ Inflammation of the SI joint causing tension and swelling of the femoral muscle, causing compression of the Sciatic nerve.
~ Lumbar vertebrae degeneration, lack of disc space, and small foramen will impinge on the Sciatic nerve
~ Excessive fatigue, work strain
~ Poor posture or prolonged sitting, causing sciatic nerve compression
